Yamaha’s Big Bikes Are Coming to India – But There’s a Catch!

Yamaha India is preparing to launch its 700cc and 900cc bikes like MT-07, R7, MT-09 and R9 in the Indian market soon. The reason for the delay in the launch is the E20 petrol rule, under which all bikes will be required to be E20-fuel compliant by October 2025. Yamaha bikes are currently in the homologation process and will hit the market soon. All these bikes will come as CBU (imported). The engine power will be up to 119hp, which will definitely attract performance lovers. The excitement about the launch is at its peak.

Yamaha Plan

Yamaha India has been working on the plan to launch its 700cc and 900cc bikes in the Indian market for the last few years. Although the launch of these bikes is getting delayed, the company has made it clear that its plan is still on and has not been canceled.

Delay

Yamaha’s new Managing Director and Chairman Itaru Otani recently said that the main reason for the delay in the launch of the company’s bikes is the E20 fuel rules. In India, from October 2025, it will be mandatory for all bikes to be compliant with E20 petrol. Yamaha’s big bikes are not currently E20 compliant, and that is why the launch has been postponed.

Technology

The company says that it already has E20 technology, and soon these bikes will be ready for the Indian market. These bikes are currently going through the homologation process, which means that their launch is not far away.

Models

The models to be launched in India will include Yamaha’s 07 and 09 series bikes. This may include MT-07, R7, MT-09, and the new Yamaha R9. However, the Tenere 700 is less likely to be launched in India because the company is concerned about its seat height.

Engine

The Yamaha MT-07 and R7 use the company’s famous 689cc parallel twin engine, while the MT-09 and R9 have an 890cc three-cylinder engine, which generates power of about 119hp. The specialty of these engines is their smoothness and high-performance delivery.

Import

All these bikes will be brought to India as CBU (Completely Built Unit). That is, they will be imported from abroad completely assembled, due to which their prices may be relatively high. But for performance and technology enthusiasts, these bikes can prove to be a great option.

Conclusion

Yamaha India’s big bike plan may have been delayed, but it is not completely closed. The company is preparing to launch its high-capacity bikes for the Indian market soon. This change in line with the E20 fuel norms can prove to be beneficial for Indian customers in the long term. These bikes are going to bring a new hope and excitement for Yamaha fans.
