Yamaha Aerox 155: The Sporty Scooter That Feels Like a Bike!

Yamaha Aerox :- When it comes to a new concept in the Indian two-wheeler market, Yamaha always tries to do something different. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is one such example, which the company launched with the aim of bringing the maxi-scooter experience to the masses. It is quite different from traditional scooters – in all three – design, performance and technology. Four years later, the Aerox has created a separate fan base for itself. Let’s know the three main reasons to buy this scooter, as well as two reasons that can make you think.

Performance and Mileage

The Yamaha Aerox 155 has the same engine that is used in the popular Yamaha R15, but it has been retuned for the scooter and has a CVT gearbox. This is the reason why the Aerox, despite being a scooter, gives a bike-like feel in terms of performance.

The biggest feature of this scooter is that despite giving great power, it does not compromise on mileage. If you ride it in a balanced way, it can give a real-world fuel efficiency of 40 to 45 kmpl.

Apart from this, Yamaha’s start/stop system makes it even more economical. This system activates very quickly and proves to be extremely useful in stop-go traffic. In such a situation, this scooter becomes a great option for those who want both power and mileage.

Design

The design of the Yamaha Aerox 155 is completely different from any conventional scooter available in the Indian market. Its angular bodywork, large 14-inch wheels, thick tires, LED headlamps and sharp tail section give it a sporty and unique look.

This scooter is perfect for those who want their two-wheeler to stand out from the crowd on the roads. The design of the Aerox is very much liked by the youth and this scooter is like a style statement for those who do not want to compromise on style along with performance.

Sharp and engaging handling

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the few scooters that come with large 14-inch wheels. Apart from this, its spine section also gives a different texture from traditional scooters. Initially, those who come from normal scooters may find this experience a bit different, but once you understand the rhythm of its handling, it is a different fun.

The handling of the Aerox is so great that it gives a motorcycle-like feel in cornering performance. This scooter is for those who are fond of riding and want bike-like control and stability in a scooter.

Stiff suspension and less usability

Although the design and performance of the Yamaha Aerox is very impressive, there are some aspects of it that can prove to be a bit difficult for Indian roads. First of all, talking about its rear suspension system, it is quite stiff, which can make driving on bad roads uncomfortable.

The other big drawback is its spine section, which is good in terms of design, but it reduces the utility of the scooter. Due to this spine, you can neither hang bags nor keep any stuff on the floorboard of the scooter, which can become a big inconvenience in everyday use.

Priced high

The price of the Yamaha Aerox has increased steadily over the past four years. Currently, the scooter is available in two variants:

  • Aerox 155 Standard: ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Aerox 155 Version S: ₹1.53 lakh (ex-showroom)

These prices make it one of the most expensive options in the scooter category. Especially when you consider that there are many 200cc commuter bikes available for ₹1.50 lakh that are more powerful and more practical. So, if you are on a limited budget, the high price tag of the Aerox may put you off.
