TVS Jupiter
India’s two-wheeler market is now moving towards a new energy revolution. After electric vehicles, now the TVS Jupiter CNG two-wheeler segment is also seeing rapid movement. In this episode, TVS Motor Company is going to take a big step. The company is soon going to launch its first CNG two-wheeler in the Indian market, which will be none other than the new avatar of the very popular scooter Jupiter – TVS Jupiter CNG.
After Bajaj’s Freedom 125 CNG bike, TVS will be the second company to enter the CNG segment. Jupiter CNG was first showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, and now it is all set to be launched in the second half of 2025. This scooter will become the world’s first CNG scooter as soon as it is launched, which will be considered a major achievement for the Indian market.
In terms of design, TVS Jupiter CNG will look similar to the current Jupiter 125. However, it will see some minor changes, such as clear ‘CNG’ badging and the presence of the cylinder under the seat. Since the CNG cylinder is fitted under the seat, this scooter will not get under-seat storage. While the petrol version used to offer 33 liters of under-seat boot space.
The CNG cylinder fitted in the TVS Jupiter CNG is supplied by Vanaz company, which also manufactures CNG cylinders for Bajaj Freedom 125. The capacity of this cylinder will be 1.4 kg (about 9.5 liters), while a 2-liter petrol tank is also provided with it, which will be located on the floorboard. This hybrid setup will give the scooter the ability to power from two fuel sources.
Talking about the engine, the TVS Jupiter CNG will get the same 124.8cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which will generate 7.2 horsepower and 9.4Nm of torque. Although these figures are slightly less than the petrol version (8.1 bhp and 10.5 Nm), but despite running on CNG, this power output will be sufficient for city riding.
According to TVS, this scooter can achieve a top speed of 80.5 kmph. But its biggest feature is its mileage. The company claims that this CNG scooter can run up to 84 km in 1 kg of CNG, which makes it one of the most fuel efficient scooters. Its total range of both petrol and CNG will be 226 km, which makes it an excellent option for daily needs.
This scooter will not be less than anyone in terms of features. It will have modern features like semi-digital instrument cluster, side stand indicator, LED headlamp, USB charger and mobile connectivity through TVS Connect app. Users will also be able to get call and SMS alerts from this app.
The arrival of TVS Jupiter CNG will benefit those customers the most, who are troubled by the rising prices of petrol but want to avoid the limitations of electric vehicles (such as charging time and range). This scooter will not only be light on the pocket but will also be a positive option in terms of environment.
With this decision of the company, it has become clear that TVS is not only promoting the electric segment keeping in mind the needs of the future, but is also focusing on alternative fuels like CNG. This strategy will not only help the brand reach more customers, but also reflects the company’s responsibility in the era of environmental awareness.
In short, TVS Jupiter CNG can prove to be a scooter that will offer a unique combination of style, mileage, technology and affordability. If you want a two-wheeler that is a smart investment in every way, then this upcoming CNG scooter from TVS should definitely be on your list.
