Midsize SUV
The midsize SUV segment in the Indian automobile market has become increasingly popular in the last few years. Every major company has launched its powerful models in this segment, which include petrol, diesel as well as electric versions. There was a lot of ups and downs in this segment in June 2025, but one thing remained clear – Hyundai Creta once again adorned the crown of the top selling SUV.
Hyundai Creta sold a total of 15,786 units in June 2025. Although this figure is slightly lower (about 3% decline) than June 2024 last year, it still indicates that customers still consider Creta as the most reliable option in the midsize SUV segment. This figure of Creta reflects the total sales of petrol, diesel and electric variants.
Mahindra Scorpio maintained its stable position at the second position. A total of 12,740 units of Scorpio were sold, which shows an increase of 4% over last year. The special thing is that premium features like ADAS have been added to Scorpio N, which has increased its demand even more.
Toyota’s urban cruiser Hyrider performed surprisingly this time. It ranked third with 7,462 units and registered a year-on-year growth of 75%. This SUV comes with hybrid technology, which gives a great combination of mileage and performance.
In contrast to Toyota’s success, Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara suffered a 29% decline in sales. Only 6,828 units of it were sold in June 2025. While earlier it was considered a big competitor of Toyota Hyrider, but this month’s figures are telling a different story.
The XUV700 has once again proved that it is fully capable of making its place in the segment. It registered a year-on-year growth of 5% with a total of 6,198 units sold. Its premium technology and strong performance make it special among customers.
Kia Seltos got a slight setback this time. Its sales fell by 17% to 5,225 units in June 2025. This decline may be due to increasing competition in the segment and the entry of new vehicles.
Mahindra’s all-electric SUV XEV 9e has entered the top 10 list for the first time. With sales of 2,808 units, it proved that customers are now moving rapidly towards electric options. This SUV is a strong example of Mahindra’s electric vision.
Tata’s new SUV Curvv also sold 2,060 units in June 2025. This vehicle comes in both EV and ICE variants and its modern design is being liked by the youth. The entry of Tata Curve is making this segment even more interesting.
Honda’s Elevate SUV got sales of 1,635 units in June 2025, which is 24% less than last year. The reason for this decline can be attributed to its limited feature list and increasing competition.
The last position in the top 10 list is occupied by Tata Harrier. A total of 1,259 units of it were sold, which is 7% less than last year. However, the company has announced to start deliveries of Harrier EV from July 2025, which could see a surge in its sales in the coming months.
