SUV
The Indian automobile market shows something new every month, but the June 2025 sales report has changed many old trends. From SUVs to hatchbacks, every segment saw upheaval. In this report, we will know which cars’ demand increased, which decreased and which became the No.1 brand in June 2025.
Hyundai has once again secured the first position in the sales race on the strength of its Creta. With 15,786 units sold, this car became India’s best-selling SUV. Although it declined by 3% compared to last year, Creta’s hold still remains strong.
Maruti’s sedan Dzire registered sales of 15,484 units in June 2025, which is 15% more than last year. With this increase, Dzire remained at number two and still remains the strongest contender in the sedan segment.
Maruti’s Brezza proved itself again in the SUV category. With 14,507 units sold in June 2025, it showed an annual growth of 10%. This shows that Brezza’s hold in the sub-compact SUV segment is still strong.
While many cars registered good sales, Tata Punch suffered a major setback. Its sales declined by about 43% compared to last year, and this figure is a big alarm for the auto industry. Perhaps customers are now preferring new SUV or EV options instead of Punch.
Mahindra’s Thar once again registered a strong growth of 77% on the basis of its unique look and off-road image. At the same time, Toyota’s Hyryder also showed with 74% growth that customers are now accepting hybrid technology with open arms.
The shine of old stars like Maruti Suzuki’s Swift and WagonR is now fading. Swift sales fell by 19% and WagonR by 6%. This is probably due to the lack of new models and features.
Mahindra’s new SUV XUV 3XO and Hyundai Venue presented some disappointing figures this month. XUV3XO sales fell by 16.6% and Venue sales fell by 31%. This shows that both these vehicles are not able to fully meet the expectations of the customers.
If we look at the total sales of all vehicles, 1,30,736 units were sold in June 2025, which is about 7.5% less than 1,41,299 units in June 2024. It is clear from this that the market is slow at the moment and customers have become a little cautious regarding shopping.
The SUV segment also witnessed similar upheaval. Total sales stood at 1,38,882 units in June 2025, down 7.10% over last year. But SUVs like Maruti’s Brezza and Mahindra Thar performed well.
The June 2025 data makes it clear that now not just price and mileage, but the combination of technology, design and features will determine sales. Customers have now become more intelligent and demanding than before. Therefore, the demand for more high-tech and hybrid models may increase in the coming months.
