Tata Sierra
India’s iconic SUV Tata Sierra is going to return to the Indian market once again. Tata Motors has confirmed that the new Tata Sierra will be launched in the festive season of 2025. However, its exact launch date has not been revealed yet. This SUV has already been showcased three times – first as an EV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo, second time as an updated EV Concept 2.0 in 2023, and recently as a production-ready model at the 2024 and 2025 India Mobility Global Expo.
Tata Sierra will compete directly with successful SUV models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate. There is already tremendous competition in this segment, but Tata Sierra is all set to turn the tables with its style, technology and powertrain options.
Tata Sierra 2025 will be launched with a futuristic design and extremely modern features. It will include three screens – one infotainment system, second digital instrument cluster for the driver, and third dedicated display for the front passenger. Let’s know its possible features:
Tata Motors has confirmed that the Tata Sierra will be launched in both ICE (petrol-diesel) and EV variants. Although the full details of the variants and trims are not yet known, the powertrain options can be something like this:
🔹 1.5L turbo petrol engine – 165 bhp power
🔹 2.0L turbo diesel engine – 170 bhp power
🔹 EV version – two battery pack options: 65kWh and 75kWh
The range of these battery packs is expected to be more than 500 km. The EV version can share technology with the Tata Harrier EV.
The interior of the Tata Sierra will not only be technologically advanced, but will also give a feeling of luxury in terms of design. Floating center console, ambient lighting, new steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, and multiple storage spaces will give it a premium appeal.
The V2L (Vehicle to Load) and V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) technology found in the Sierra EV will take Tata further towards EV leadership in India. This SUV will not only offer long range, but will also be equipped with features like backup charging or power sharing.
There is no compromise in Tata Sierra in terms of safety. Features like multiple airbags, 540 degree camera, ADAS system, TPMS, ESC, and ABS give it class-leading safety. It is going to be a suitable choice for both family users and tech-savvy drivers.
Tata Motors has clarified that the Sierra will be launched in the festive season of 2025, which means between October-December. Talking about its price, this SUV is expected to start from ₹ 15 lakh for the ICE variant and go up to ₹ 22 lakh, while the prices of the EV variants can be between ₹ 23 lakh to ₹ 28 lakh.
Sierra will compete directly with vehicles like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate and Maruti Grand Vitara. These vehicles already have a strong hold in the market, but Sierra can make a different identity due to its design, features and variety of powertrain options.
Tata Sierra is the return of an iconic name, and this time it is going to set a new benchmark in the market not only with the name but also with technology, performance and design. Coming in both ICE and EV formats, this SUV will meet the needs of many types of buyers. Its premium features, EV range and powerful engine options will make it one of the most talked about launches of 2025.
