Tata Motors
India’s leading automobile company Tata Motors is going to completely change its passenger vehicle portfolio in the coming time. Under the roadmap prepared by the company from 2025 to 2030, Tata will launch more than 30 new vehicles, including 7 completely new names. This includes electric cars, petrol engine models, and facelift versions. This move is part of the company’s future strategy to become the leader of the automobile market in India.
Tata Motors has decided to invest ₹ 35,000 crore from FY2026 to FY2030. This amount will be used to take the company’s passenger vehicle segment to a completely new level. Under this, the company will not only manufacture new vehicles, but will also upgrade existing models. Tata aims to almost double its current portfolio, which will include both EV and ICE drivetrains.
Till now, Tata’s vehicles like Harrier and Safari were available only in diesel engine options, but now the company has decided to bring petrol engines. Tata has developed a new 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine that will generate 168 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. This engine will be given in Harrier, Safari and the upcoming Sierra. This will benefit those customers who wanted a petrol option apart from diesel. Also, this petrol engine will be according to the new BS6 Phase 2 norms.
Preparations are in full swing for the return of Tata’s iconic SUV ‘Sierra’. This time Sierra will be introduced first in electric avatar and then later the petrol engine version will also be launched. This SUV will come with modern design, premium interior and long range. Its electric range is expected to be more than 500 km and Tata’s new electric platform will be used in it. Sierra EV can be launched in late 2025 or early 2026.
Tata Motors is going to give a mid-cycle facelift to its popular hatchback and sedan – Tiago and Tigor. It can see changes in the exterior, new alloy wheels, fresh interior color theme, and updated infotainment system. Apart from this, Punch ICE has also not received any major update so far, but now it is clear through the spy image that the facelift version of Tata Punch is being prepared. It can also come with new headlamp design, revised grille and safety features like ADAS.
The next generation version of both Tata Nexon EV and Nexon ICE will be introduced in the coming years. The company is preparing a completely new platform and design for these vehicles. It will include more space, better performance, and new features. The special thing is that Tata’s new Nexon EV and ICE will be launched with high-safety rating.
Work is also going on fast on Tata’s premium electric series ‘Avinya’. This series will come to the market by 2027 and aims to make a mark in the luxury EV segment. The Avinya platform will be equipped with global level EV technology and will have high-end features like ADAS, autonomous driving, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and large displays. It will target customers who want a premium experience in Tata.
Tata Motors has already become India’s largest EV manufacturer, and now it is rapidly launching new models to maintain this lead. Tata Harrier EV got more than 10,000 bookings in a single day, which shows its popularity. Also, in July 2025, Tata’s EV cars are getting a discount of up to ₹ 1 lakh, which is attracting more customers. In the coming time, Sierra EV, Nexon EV next generation and Avinya series will further strengthen Tata’s EV portfolio.
Tata Motors is also considering hybrid vehicles. Although there is no official announcement yet, company insiders say that if the market and policy direction remains favorable, hybrid technology can be incorporated in the future. This will help Tata reach out to customers who want an option between EV and ICE.
Some of the major vehicles expected to be launched by Tata Motors are:
The Sierra EV may be launched in early 2025-26, while the Sierra petrol will arrive in the same financial year. Harrier and Safari petrol versions may launch by the end of 2025. Punch facelift and Tiago/Tigor updated versions will hit the market by 2026. Avinya EV will be launched in 2027.
Tata Motors has made big plans understanding the future automobile needs in India. The company is not only strengthening the EV segment, but is also focusing on petrol and hybrid options. This roadmap of 30 new vehicles shows that Tata is now ready to provide global level technology and experience not only to Indian customers. In the coming years, the name of Tata will be prominently seen in every segment on Indian roads.
