Next-Gen Tata Nexon – Everything’s Changing!

Tata Motors’ Nexon SUV was first launched in 2017 and was the company’s first car to be built on the IMPACT design philosophy Tata Nexon. It is a sub-compact SUV, which became very popular in the market due to its stunning design, best-in-class safety rating, modern features and multiple engine options. Over time, it also underwent several midlife updates, the most important of which was the electric version introduced in 2020.

Now Tata Motors is preparing to launch it as a completely new generation. The company can launch this SUV in the market in the second half of 2026. Let’s know what new things are going to be found in the new 2026 Tata Nexon.

Will be based on new platform

The new Tata Nexon will be built on a somewhat modified version of the company’s existing X1 platform. Tata Motors has already used the X1 architecture in cars like Bolt and Zest. This platform is suitable for many body styles like hatchback, sedan and compact SUV.

Now it has been updated to enable modern features like electronic power assisted steering and speed sensitive steering. Through this updated platform, the new Nexon will not only be stronger but will also give a smoother driving experience than before.

There will be a big change in styling

In terms of design, the 2026 Tata Nexon can look more futuristic and aggressive than ever. It is expected that its exterior design will be inspired by the Tata Curvv SUV and other new prototypes. The company will not only try to give it an attractive look, but it will also be made more aerodynamic and modern.

The new Nexon can get a completely new front fascia, sharp LED headlamps, split DRLs, newly designed alloy wheels and a new rear profile. This will make its road presence even more spectacular.

Interior

The interior of the 2026 Tata Nexon will be more premium and advanced than ever before. The company can offer new color schemes, soft-touch materials and better fit and finish in it. Apart from this, features like better connectivity with smartphones, digital instrument cluster, larger touchscreen infotainment system and wireless charging can be provided in the interior.

The new Nexon is also expected to get features like auto dimming IRVM, premium JBL or Harman audio system, and updated iRA connected car technology. Apart from this, disc brakes at the rear and the complete setup of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) can also make this car ahead in the segment.

Engine options

As far as the engine is concerned, Tata Motors can retain the existing powertrain in the new Nexon. Currently, two engine options are available in Nexon –

  • 1.2L turbo petrol engine that produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque.
  • 1.5L turbo diesel engine that produces 115PS of power and 260Nm of torque.

The petrol engine comes with both manual and automatic options, while the diesel engine is only available in the mid to top variants and is not offered with a DCA gearbox or in the entry-level variants.

It is clear from this that Tata Motors has not made any major changes to the engine, but some software tuning or mileage improvement is possible to further improve the performance.

Safety Features

The hallmark of Tata Nexon has always been its safety rating. It has been India’s first SUV to receive a 5-star GNCAP safety rating. So there will be no compromise on safety even in the 2026 version.

Its safety features may include:

  • 6 to 7 airbags
  • Anti Lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • Traction Control
  • Hill Hold Assist
  • Rear Parking Camera and Sensors
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • And now ADAS features like Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection etc.

All these features will help Tata Nexon maintain its position as India’s safest SUV.

Launch Timeline and Expected Price

Tata Motors has not yet officially announced any date, but it is estimated that the new Tata Nexon will be launched in the second half of 2026, i.e. between July to December 2026. Talking about the prices, it may be slightly higher than the current model.

At present, the price of Nexon starts from ₹ 8 lakh and goes up to ₹ 15 lakh. The prices of the new generation Nexon can start from around ₹ 9 lakh and go up to ₹ 16.5 lakh, which will be in line with its new features and design.

Conclusion

The new Tata Nexon 2026 will have everything that a modern-day SUV should have – modern looks, futuristic features, tremendous safety and reliable performance. The way Tata has constantly updated the Nexon, it is clear that the company is trying to take it to a new level with every update.

If you are looking for a stylish, safe and smart SUV that will remain in trend in the years to come, then the 2026 Tata Nexon could be a great choice for you.
