Kinetic
Kinetic, the company that once ruled the Indian two-wheeler market, is now in the news again. This company, which refreshes the memories of the old times, is now preparing to make a comeback with an electric scooter. Recently, a new Kinetic electric scooter was seen during testing on the streets of Pune, which was completely camouflaged. Looking at its design and features, it is clear that the company is trying to combine the heritage of the past with modern technology.
This new electric scooter seems to be inspired by the old Kinetic Honda ZX scooter. Its headlamp is square in shape, the side panels are quite simple and classic and the front apron is presented in a sleek design. A faux windscreen is provided on the handlebar on which KINETIC’s branding is visible. Rectangular LED headlights and turn indicators are also seen in the scooter, which are in a shape similar to the old Kinetic logo.
The spy shots that have surfaced have revealed several key features. This scooter has a hub-mounted motor which is indicative of a simple and efficient EV drivetrain. Dual telescopic forks have been provided as front suspension which will improve riding comfort. At the same time, dual shock absorbers are also present at the rear, which further strengthen the ride stability and comfort.
Apart from this, the box-section swingarm provides strength to the chassis of the scooter. The scooter has triple-spoke alloy wheels which give it a modern look. Disc brakes have also been seen in its front wheel, due to which braking performance is expected to be better. A single-piece grab rail has also been seen which can prove to be very practical for the pillion rider.
The thing that attracts the most attention in this new scooter of Kinetic is its retro styled front fender, which reminds of the old Kinetic Honda. Apart from this, the decorative faux windshield on the handlebar gives it a unique and classic touch.
The floorboard of the scooter is quite wide and flat, making it suitable for daily commuters and family users. Its bodywork appears slightly heavy and strong, which can possibly cover a large battery pack. Its overall shape and proportion matches famous family scooters like Hero Vida, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1.
Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd has recently started a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Ahilya Nagar, Maharashtra. It is expected that the production of this new electric scooter will be started from here. The company can launch it under its Kinetic Green brand.
Although no information has been revealed about its battery specifications and range yet, given the company’s history and current EV trends, this scooter can be equipped with features like Bluetooth connectivity, digital instrumentation, and smartphone app integration. These features will play a big role in attracting the new age youth.
At present, Kinetic has not shared any official information about the name, price or battery specifications of this scooter. But with the speed at which pictures of its testing phase are coming out, it is being speculated that the company can launch it officially in the next few months. Its possible price can be around Ola, Chetak and iQube.
Kinetic has been a trusted brand for decades, especially during the era when scooters like Kinetic Honda ZX and Luna ruled the roads of India. Now that the world is moving towards EV, Kinetic is also starting a new journey by combining its old heritage with EV technology.
This new electric scooter from Kinetic is a great combination of old-world vibe and modern technology. This scooter can be a special option for those who like nostalgic design but are also looking for smart features. From the company’s plan, new manufacturing plant, and design, it is clear that Kinetic now wants to emerge as a strong contender in the EV world.
