Mercedes-Benz GLS AMG Line Launched at ₹1.43 Crore – Is It Worth the Price?

Mercedes-Benz GLS India has launched a new sporty avatar of its flagship SUV GLS, the GLS AMG Line in India. The new variant is available in both petrol and diesel engine options, priced at ₹ 1.40 crore (GLS 450 AMG Line) and ₹ 1.43 crore (GLS 450d AMG Line) respectively, ex-showroom.

Tremendous AMG touch in exterior design

The Mercedes-Benz GLS AMG Line variant has been specially designed to give it an attractive and sporty look. Its front and rear bumpers have been made larger and more aggressive, which gives it a strong presence on the road. It includes AMG side skirts, body-color wheel arch cladding and a special AMG diffusor, which further enhance its look. Apart from this, attractive 21-inch AMG alloy wheels have also been provided. Under the Night Package, roof rails, grille inserts, and mirror caps have been introduced in black-out finish, which makes its look even more premium and sporty.

Special touch of AMG in the interior too

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz GLS AMG Line has also been decorated by Mercedes in the sporty style of AMG. It has a new AMG-spec twin-spoke steering wheel, which is covered with Nappa leather. Apart from this, AMG sports pedals have been provided in brushed stainless steel, which further strengthen the sporty driving experience. AMG branding has been done on the floor mats, which gives a premium feel. Under the Night Package, the dashboard is covered with black leather upholstery, which gives a luxury touch to the entire cabin.

Mercedes-Benz GLS Powertrain

Although no mechanical changes have been made in the Mercedes-Benz GLS AMG Line, the same powerful 3.0-liter inline-six petrol and diesel engines have been retained in it. The GLS 450 AMG Line has a 3.0L petrol engine, which generates 381 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. At the same time, the GLS 450d AMG Line has a 3.0L diesel engine, which gives 367 hp of power and 750 Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and are mated to Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive technology. Both these variants are capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.

How much is the difference in price?

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS Line variants are priced slightly higher than the standard GLS variants. The GLS 450 AMG Line is priced at ₹1.40 crore, which is ₹3 lakh more than the regular petrol variant. At the same time, the GLS 450d AMG Line is priced at ₹1.43 crore, which is ₹1 lakh more than the regular diesel variant. These are ex-showroom prices and additional customisation options are also available.

Mercedes sales saw a boom

Along with the launch of the GLS AMG Line, Mercedes-Benz India has also shared the sales report for the first quarter of FY2026 i.e. between April to June 2025. During this period, the company sold a total of 4,238 units, which is 10 percent more than the same period last year. The special thing was that the sales of Mercedes’ top-end models registered a growth of 20 percent. Apart from this, the company has also achieved tremendous growth in the EV segment, where EV sales have increased by 157 percent due to the high demand for the EQS SUV.
