Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki once again registered sales of more than 1 lakh units in June 2025, but this time the company has faced a decline on both year-on-year and month-on-month basis. The company’s total wholesale sales stood at 1,18,906 units in June 2025, as against 1,37,160 units in June 2024 last year. In this way, Maruti had to face an annual decline of 13.31%. At the same time, in May 2025, the company sold 1,35,962 units, which has also seen a monthly decline of 12.54%.
Dzire was Maruti’s best-selling car in June 2025, with a total of 15,484 units sold. Last year, 13,421 units were sold in the same month, giving it an annual growth of 15.37%. However, in May 2025, 18,084 units of Dzire were sold, due to which it suffered a monthly decline of 14.38% in June. Despite this, Dzire remained at number 1 with 13.02% market share.
After Dzire, Brezza and Ertiga were at number 2 and 3. Brezza sold 14,507 units, which is 10.14% more than last year. However, compared to May 2025, it has declined by 6.8%. On the other hand, Ertiga sold 14,151 units in June 2025, which is 11.01% less than last year and a decline of 12.32% on a monthly basis.
Maruti Swift sold 13,275 units in June 2025. This figure is 19.16% less than June 2024, while compared to May 2025, there is a decline of 6.08%. Similarly, WagonR sales also came down to 12,930 units, which is 6.24% less than last year and 7.31% less than last month.
Maruti’s premium hatchback Baleno has seen a huge decline in sales. It sold only 8,966 units in June 2025, as against 14,895 units sold in June last year. This shows a massive decline of 39.81% YoY and 22.83% MoM. Similarly, Alto sales also shrunk to 5,045 units, up 35.11% from last year and only 1.51% from last month.
Maruti’s new SUV Fronx showed a growth of only 1.31% year-on-year and its sales stood at 9,815 units. But in month-on-month comparison, Fronx faced a huge decline of 27.75%, making it a concern.
Grand Vitara sold only 6,828 units in June 2025, down 29.46% compared to last year, but grew 31.38% on a monthly basis. Smaller models like Celerio, XL6, Ignis and S-Presso also faced a decline in sales. Of these, XL6 sales fell by 42.66% in MoM and Ignis by 41.48% YoY.
While sales of most models declined, premium models like Ciaz and Invicto performed well. Ciaz sales recorded a growth of 79.72% YoY and 124.45% MoM, while Invicto also recorded a growth of 106.25% YoY and 18.39% MoM. Both these models are currently moving from a small base, but their growth trend is showing positive signs.
Maruti Suzuki’s total sales in the second quarter (Q2 CY 2025) stood at 3,93,572 units, as against 4,19,114 units sold in the same quarter last year. This means that the company has suffered a decline of 6.09% on a quarterly basis. During this period, Dzire, Brezza, Ertiga and Swift performed steadily but a sharp decline in sales of models like WagonR, Baleno, Vitara and Alto pulled down the overall figures.
Maruti Suzuki may still be the country’s best-selling company, but many of its key models are facing a continuous falling demand. Some new and premium models like Fronx, Ciaz and Invicto have shown promise, but falling sales of mainstream models like Swift, Baleno and WagonR are becoming a matter of concern for the company. If the company has to maintain growth in the coming months, it will have to look at changes in its existing portfolio or new offerings.
