Mahindra XUV 3XO Debuts in Australia with 2 Variants – Price Will Surprise You!

The position that Mahindra XUV 3XO has achieved in the Indian automobile market on the basis of its SUVs is commendable. The company’s vehicles like Scorpio, Bolero, Thar and XUV700 have won the hearts of common people as well as off-roading lovers. In the series of these successful models, there is another SUV – Mahindra XUV 3XO, which is being well liked in the Indian market due to its compact size, spacious interior and advanced features.

But now Mahindra has taken such a step regarding this vehicle which has surprised everyone. The news is that the price of Mahindra XUV 3XO has been reduced by about ₹ 4 lakh! However, this reduction has been implemented not in India, but in Australia. Let us know in detail the whole story behind this new price.

Mahindra XUV 3XO price reduced by ₹ 4 lakh – but why?

Mahindra has recently launched XUV 3XO in the Australian market. In this new market, the company has introduced this SUV at such an aggressive price that the prices of the Indian market seem very high in comparison.

The starting price of Mahindra XUV 3XO in Australia has been kept at AUD 23,490, which is around ₹ 13.18 lakh in Indian currency. In India, the same SUV reaches above ₹ 17.5 lakh according to the on-road price. Thus, a difference of about ₹ 4 lakh is being seen in the price.

This price makes it the cheapest Mahindra SUV in Australia. It is worth noting that models like Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N and S11 4×4 Pikup are already being sold there. But this new price of XUV 3XO can prove to be a big bet for the company.

Will be available in only two variants

XUV 3XO will be available in only two variants in Australia – AX5 L and AX7 L. While it has been introduced in India in several trims and engine options, the Australian version has been launched with limited variants and powertrains.

One special thing is that the Australian version will not get the Stealth Black color option, which is quite popular in India.

Big changes in engine and performance

In India, Mahindra XUV 3XO has been launched with three engine options:

  • 1.2L MPFi Turbo Petrol (110bhp, 200Nm)
  • 1.2L TGDi Turbo Petrol (129bhp, 230Nm)
  • 1.5L Diesel (115bhp, 300Nm)

Of these, the TGDi version is the most powerful, while the diesel version is ideal for those who like mileage and torque.

But in Australia, this SUV is offered only with the 1.2L MPFi Turbo Petrol engine. This means that Australian customers will not get the option of both power and diesel options. This could be a big reason for the reduction in price.

Same features, same quality

Although Mahindra has limited the engine options in the XUV 3XO for the Australian market, there has been no compromise in terms of features. Almost all the major and premium features available in India are also available in the Australian version. This includes features like panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25 inch screen setup, 360 degree camera, dual-zone climate control and level 2 ADAS technology. Due to these great features, the XUV 3XO is fully capable of giving direct competition to popular vehicles like Mazda CX-3, Hyundai Venue and Kia Stonic in the Australian market.

Will the price be reduced in India too?

This question may come to everyone’s mind that when it is available ₹ 4 lakh cheaper in Australia, will the price of Mahindra XUV 3XO decrease in India too?

The direct answer to this is probably ‘no’. The version introduced in Australia is somewhat cut down in terms of features and engine. On the other hand, the variants available in India are more powerful, more options and feature-loaded. Also, the tax structure and market positioning in India is different.

Mahindra’s strategy – Global Expansion

Mahindra has taken several steps in the last few years to strengthen its hold in global markets. Vehicles like XUV 700 and Scorpio N have already been sent to markets like South Africa, Australia and the Middle East.

Now the company is targeting Australian consumers with the XUV 3XO, and this is an attempt to establish its identity as an affordable SUV. The special thing is that no compromise has been made with the features.

Conclusion

Anyone may be shocked to hear about the price cut of ₹ 4 lakh in Mahindra XUV 3XO, but when we understand the strategy behind it, this decision seems to be quite smart. This move is absolutely perfect to make entry into the Australian market easier, deal with the competition and increase the brand value.

It cannot be expected to reduce its price in India, but it can definitely be said that Mahindra is very serious about its global positioning and is planning to expand to more new countries in the coming time.
