Honda City Hybrid Shocker – ₹1 Lakh Price Drop, 27 KMPL Mileage!

Honda City has given a great news for middle-class sedan buyers in India. The company has reduced the price of its premium hybrid sedan Honda City e:HEV by about ₹ 1 lakh. Now this car is available for ₹ 19.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the only full hybrid car in India’s midsize sedan segment, which is attracting people’s attention due to its excellent mileage, advanced features and great performance.

Powerful hybrid powertrain and great mileage

Honda City e:HEV has a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is based on Atkinson cycle technology. This engine is combined with two electric motors – a traction motor and a generator motor. The traction motor takes energy from the battery and powers the wheels directly, while the generator motor charges the battery from the engine.

This entire system powers the front wheels through eCVT (Electronic Continuous Variable Transmission). This hybrid setup gives the car a total power of 126 hp and torque of 253 Nm. Talking about mileage, according to ARAI, this sedan gives a mileage of 27.26 kilometers per liter, which makes it the most economical car in its segment.

Price and competition

Honda has fixed the price of this hybrid sedan at ₹ 19.90 lakh, which is about ₹ 1 lakh less than before. Now this car will compete with options like Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and normal Honda City. Although it is more expensive than other cars, the hybrid technology and features available in it make it different.

Also, there are many features like wireless charger, 8-speaker music system, automatic climate control, push start button and smart keyless entry.

Government support and customer interest

The Indian government is now gradually taking steps in favor of hybrid vehicles. Considering the total cost of ownership and environmental benefits, hybrid cars are now becoming more relevant. Honda City e:HEV can be a strong start in this direction.
