Hero Vida VX2
Hero Vida VX2 has reduced the price of its new electric scooter Vida VX2 by Rs 15,000, making this scooter even more affordable and attractive. While earlier the starting price of Vida VX2 was Rs 59,490 (ex-showroom), now it has been reduced to Rs 44,490, but this price is excluding battery rental charges. The special thing about this scooter is that it is India’s first two-wheeler in which Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plans have been implemented in true sense.
Vida VX2 is available in two variants – Go and Plus. Now the price of Vida VX2 Go with BaaS plan is Rs 44,490 while the price of Plus variant is Rs 57,990. If you want to buy the scooter without BaaS, the Go variant will be available for Rs 99,490 and the Plus variant for Rs 1.10 lakh. This difference gives customers the option to buy the scooter at a cheaper price with battery rental or own the battery by paying the full price.
What makes the Vida VX2 different is its battery charging system. This scooter has a removable battery that can be charged in three ways – DC fast charging, AC charging directly from the scooter and AC charging by removing the battery. The Go variant gets a 2.2 kWh battery that gives a claimed range of 92 km, while the Plus variant gets a combo of two batteries that give a total output of 3.4 kWh and a range of 142 km.
The motor of the Vida VX2 generates a max power of 6 kW. Its top speed is 70 kmph, which is sufficient for daily travel within the city. Its battery takes about 3.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100%, while it takes only 2.4 hours to charge from 0 to 80%.
Vida VX2 gets CBS braking system, which gives better safety. The front brake is drum type. It is accompanied by a digital instrument console with a 4.3-inch LCD display. Features like USB charging port, front storage box, 33.2 liters of underseat storage, and front document space make it very practical.
Vida VX2 has the facility to connect to a smart mobile app. It includes features like battery status, live charging status, information about nearby charging stations, vehicle location tracking. Along with this, advanced features like “Ping My Scooter” and “Remote Immobilization” are also available.
The company offers a 5-year warranty on the battery of the Vida VX2, which gives customers a sense of trust and peace of mind. Hero MotoCorp has designed this scooter specifically for the youth and urban residents who are facing rising fuel prices and pollution concerns.
This price cut by Hero can prove to be a marketing masterstroke. There is fierce competition in the EV segment in India and price is an important factor to attract customers. Through the BaaS model, Hero has shown that it understands the needs and budget of the Indian market well.
The Battery-as-a-Service model means that customers do not pay the full price of the battery when they buy the scooter. Instead, they rent the battery and pay for it on a per kilometer basis. In the case of the Vida VX2, this rate is Rs 0.96 per km. This reduces the initial purchase cost, which can attract more people towards electric scooters.
Hero MotoCorp has so far been known for petrol-powered bikes and scooters, but it has made a new beginning in the electric segment with the Vida brand. The Vida VX2 is a strong step in this direction and its attractive features, long range and affordable price make it a great choice.
