Bajaj Freedom
Bajaj Freedom Auto has made a big cut in the price of its first CNG motorcycle Freedom 125. The company has now made this affordable two-wheeler even more budget-friendly. However, this discount has been applied only on the base variant. Let’s know what is the new price, what are the features and why this step was taken.
Bajaj Auto announced on its social media platforms that the price of the base variant NG04 Drum of Freedom 125 CNG has now been reduced by ₹ 5,000. The new starting price has now become ₹ 85,976 (ex-showroom).
However, there is no change in the prices of the mid-spec NG04 Drum LED (₹ 95,981) and top-spec NG04 Disc LED (₹ 1.11 lakh).
The price of Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG has been reduced, but there has been no change in its features. This motorcycle is equipped with great features as before. It has an LED headlight, which provides better visibility. Along with this, an advanced LCD digital meter has been given in the bike, which also has the facility of Bluetooth connectivity.
It includes modern technology like gear position indicator and real-time mileage reading, which gives accurate information to the rider. With the help of combined braking system, braking remains safe and balanced. Apart from this, a comfortable one-piece seat and rear tire hugger have also been given in the bike, which makes it practical and convenient.
The company has not given any official reason for reducing the price, but it is believed that this decision has been taken in view of low sales. In March 2025, the total sales of Bajaj Freedom 125 were only 1,394 units. After this, in April 2025, sales further declined to just 993 units.
Two main reasons are believed to be behind this decline – first, lack of CNG infrastructure across the country, and second, low awareness among people about CNG motorcycles. Due to both these reasons, the inclination of customers towards this innovative bike has been less.
Bajaj Freedom 125 has a 125cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which generates 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. This engine is capable of running on both fuels – CNG and petrol, making it a dual-fuel bike.
The bike has a 2-liter petrol tank and a 2-liter CNG tank. Talking about mileage, this motorcycle gives a mileage of about 100 km/kg on CNG, while it runs up to 65 km/liter on petrol. Combining these two, the total riding range of the bike is around 330 km, making it an economical option for long distances.
After the price cut, Bajaj Freedom 125 is now directly competing with Honda Shine 125, which is India’s best-selling 125cc bike. However, Shine is an old and trusted name, while Freedom is based on a new and different technology. Now it remains to be seen whether Freedom 125 is able to hold its own in the market on the basis of low price and great mileage.
Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG has now become more affordable than before and there has been no compromise in the features. However, its success will largely depend on how fast people adopt the CNG engine and how strongly the company is able to make its place in this segment.
