Bajaj Chetak
Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooty has performed brilliantly in April 2025, registering a year-on-year sales growth of 73%. This scooter not only comes with stylish looks and premium features, but its great range of 155 km and top speed of 63 kmph has also attracted customers. USB charging port, disc brake and trusted brand value make Chetak a perfect choice for urban commutes. Amidst rising petrol prices and the growing trend of electric vehicles, Bajaj Chetak has emerged as a great, eco-friendly and affordable solution.
The biggest news in the sales report released by Bajaj Auto in April 2025 was the Chetak electric scooter. Bajaj Chetak performed tremendously last month and its sales increased by 73% year-on-year. This is Bajaj’s only electric scooter and now it has emerged as a strong product for the company.
While Chetak sales broke records, demand for Bajaj’s best-selling bike Pulsar declined. Bajaj Auto’s total two-wheeler sales in April 2025 stood at 1.80 lakh units, which is 14% less than last year. Weak sales of Pulsar and Platina have played a big role in this.
The top speed of Bajaj Chetak is 63 kmph and it can run up to 155 km on a single charge. Its rated power is 4 kilowatts. It has features like USB charging port, disc brake and great design. It is better than 83% of electric scooters in terms of range, which makes it special.
Bajaj’s indigenous CNG bike ‘Freedom 125’ has also made its presence felt. In the month of April, about 1000 customers bought this bike, which shows that people are now looking for alternatives, troubled by the rising prices of petrol. Due to CNG technology, this bike assures people of cheap travel.
While on the one hand electric scooters like Chetak are making a place in the hearts of the people, on the other hand CNG bikes like Freedom 125 are also becoming the choice of environmentally conscious consumers. Bajaj Auto is constantly investing in both these segments, due to which more great models are expected in the future.
The reason behind the success of Chetak is its classic look, great range and reliable brand image. Bajaj has tried to give it a premium feel and it has become an ideal choice for daily travel in cities. Its strong battery and durable design have won the trust of the people.
Bajaj once dominated the two-wheeler market. Now the company is making a strong comeback once again through new products like Chetak and Freedom. However, stopping the falling sales of Pulsar and Platina is also a big challenge for the company.
There are indications from Bajaj that the company can bring a new version of Chetak in the coming months, which can provide more range and smart features. Also, more variants of CNG bikes can be introduced. This can help the company to breathe new life in the market.
The excellent sales of Bajaj Chetak and the launch of CNG bike, it is clear that people are now rapidly moving towards fuel options. Bajaj’s hold seems to be strengthening in both electric and CNG segments. However, the falling sales of traditional bikes remains a matter of concern. In the coming times, Bajaj will need to strike this balance.
