Mahindra’s Scorpio N Z4 popular SUV Scorpio N has now become even more affordable and convenient as the company has added an automatic transmission option to its Z4 trim. This trim comes just above the base variant Z2 and now gets automatic gearbox facility with both petrol and diesel engines. This change will make the Scorpio N even more attractive for customers looking for an automatic SUV at an affordable price.
The Z4 trim now comes with a total of 5 powertrain options – petrol MT, petrol AT, diesel 2WD MT, diesel 2WD AT and diesel 4WD MT. However, the diesel 4WD AT option is still available only with the Z8 and Z8 L variants. The Z4 petrol automatic has a starting price of ₹ 17.39 lakh, while the diesel automatic is priced at ₹ 17.86 lakh. Compared to the previously available Z8 Select trim, customers can save ₹ 1.67 lakh with the Z4 petrol AT and ₹ 1.05 lakh with the diesel AT.
Talking about the powertrain, the Scorpio N is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 200 horsepower. This engine generates 370 Nm of torque with a manual gearbox and 380 Nm of torque with an automatic. The diesel option gets a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that produces 172 horsepower. Its torque output is 370 Nm with a manual transmission and 400 Nm with an automatic. A low-tuned version of the diesel engine also comes which produces 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.
Talking about the look and features of Scorpio N Z4, it has dual beam halogen reflector headlamps, steel wheels, black finish sky rack and ORVMs with LED turn indicators. At the rear, vertically stacked LED taillamps and rear spoiler make the rear profile of the SUV strong. The interior has connectivity features like power steering, engine start/stop button, second row AC, touchscreen infotainment system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from this, useful features like steering mounted audio and cruise control, USB charging ports, electric ORVMs, power windows, tumble option for 2nd and 3rd row seats, rear wiper and demister are also included.
Talking about safety, features like front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold and hill descent control, ABS and EBD, rear parking sensors have been provided in the Z4 trim. Safety features like ventilated disc brakes at both front and rear, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX child seat mounts and seat belt pretensioners make the SUV strong in terms of safety as well.
However, this trim misses out on some premium features like ventilated seats, dual zone climate control, premium Sony sound system, Alexa support, Adrenox connectivity and sunroof. Safety features also miss out on add-on features like auto dimming IRVM, driver drowsiness detection and tyre pressure monitoring system.
Still, at such an affordable price, the Scorpio N Z4 is now available with an automatic transmission – making it the most value-for-money SUV in its segment. This decision by Mahindra is not only beneficial for the customers but is also going to give a new twist to the competition in the SUV market.
