The SUV segment in India is growing rapidly and the Renault-Nissan Group is going to launch 4 new powerful SUVs by 2026 to capitalize on this opportunity. These include the new generation Renault Duster, Kiger Facelift, a larger 7-seater Renault Boreal and an all-new Nissan SUV. All these vehicles are being designed specifically keeping in mind the mid-size and family SUV segment.
The third generation of Renault Duster will be launched in India in early 2026. This new SUV will be based on the CMF-B platform and has been seen several times during testing on Indian roads. This time it will get a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, which generates 154bhp and 250Nm of torque.
Apart from this, a 140bhp 1.6-litre strong hybrid engine can also come as an option. After launch, this SUV will directly challenge the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara.
Renault Kiger Facelift is going to be launched in India this year. The new model will see minor design changes like new headlights, bumpers, tail lights and new alloy wheels.
Some cosmetic changes and new features can also be added to the interior. There will be no change in the engine option and it will get 1.0L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines as before.
Renault Boreal will be a large 7-seater SUV that will be launched in the second half of 2026 after Duster. This SUV will be based on the Dacia Bigster and will get 230mm longer and 43mm longer wheelbase than Duster.
Engine options will be the same as Duster – 1.3L turbo petrol and 1.6L strong hybrid. This car can become a great option for a big family.
A new Nissan SUV based on the Renault Duster platform will also be launched in India in 2026. Its possible name could be ‘Nissan Kait’.
Although the design and interior layout will be completely different, it will also have the same engine options – 154bhp turbo petrol and 140bhp hybrid. This SUV will also target the mid-size segment.
These upcoming SUV models from Renault and Nissan are going to give Indian customers feature-loaded, powerful and attractively priced options. If you are thinking of buying an SUV in 2026, then waiting for these models can be beneficial.
